There are many reasons why a relationship fails, but there’s a big reason that is rarely if ever discussed, and it touches all the other areas that affect relationships like infidelity, neglect, lack of romance, fighting, meanness, and so on. In other words, if we can fix this one reason, we’ll have a “reason” to work on the other areas now.

What’s the big reason why a lot of relationships fail? It’s simply this: purpose. Most relationships have no higher purpose, so when things get tough, there’s less of a reason to sacrifice.

What people miss is something previous generations understood, and that is that marriage and family were a means to an end and not an end in themselves. They serve a higher purpose than the relationship or family itself, and if you think about that fact, it’s very profound.
