Some people are more negative in the morning while others are more negative in the afternoon or at night. Some are negative when they haven’t eaten, and others fall in and out of negative or depressing seasons for unknown reasons.
Negativity just happens, right?
Yes, it does, and there can be any number of reasons for negativity. However, what’s important to first understand about negativity is that it’s not you. It’s not who you are.
In other words, if you sometimes “feel” negative, and at other times you “feel” more positive, than your negativity is NOT a state of being. It’s merely your thoughts and feelings, and those can change like the weather!
“Feelings. Nothing More Than Feelings”
How many times have you said, “I just don’t FEEL right?” Well, since when are your feelings important when it comes to establishing the truth? Does a courtroom judge say, “I don’t need to see any evidence—I just FEEL like you’re guilty?”
Does a scientist say they just FEEL that something about the world is true? When you call out an electrician to your home for a repair, are you satisfied if they just look around and say, “I FEEL like your wiring is okay?”
Feelings mean nothing. Feelings, as the old song goes, are “nothing more than feelings.”
Don’t Take Ownership of Your Feelings
You have to treat your negative thoughts and feelings like guests staying at your hotel. They’re not supposed to be there for long, and you can throw them out if you want. Your mind is not their home, so there’s no need for you to take ownership of the way you’re thinking and feeling as if that’s just the way you are and it’s never going to change.
When negativity shows up, fight it! Don’t just sit there and take it. When you feel it creeping in, just stand up, walk the floors, and speak out boldly who you are, what you want, and tell your mind HOW you’re going to think!
Say, “NO,” to negativity. Give it no place in your heart and mind. Don’t entertain it. Don’t bask in it. Don’t allow it to take up residence in your head!
If you’re feeling negative, sad, anxious, or depressed today, then guard yourself from yourself by fighting the negativity and banishing it from your life!
You say, “I can’t,” but that’s not true. You can. You just need to keep up the resistance. Eventually, your soul will wear out and submit to your dominating thoughts.
Remember, YOU are always the one in charge of you!
