What’s the one thing I see lacking in people? It’s a simple lack of being aggressive when it comes to the things they say they want.

The word “aggressive” means “pursuing one’s aims and interests forcefully,” and whether in sports, politics, life, or business, it’s aggressive people that get what they want.

So, why aren’t more people aggressive?

First, they believe it’s morally wrong to be aggressive. After all, isn’t the word used negatively? As in, “Your son is showing aggressive behavior?”

Second, they believe life will reward goodness. I know this is the case by the way most people talk. They say things like, “I don’t deserve that,” or, “I deserve better!”

The moment you use the word “deserve,” you’re revealing your belief that life works by reward and punishment. It doesn’t. Life only responds to those who aggressively take from it.

Third, people aren’t aggressive because they don’t believe they’re wired that way. They think they’re “too nice” or passive. Not true. Everyone can be pushed to the point of being aggressive. It all comes down to what’s at stake.

Therefore, the real issue is 1) how bad do you want something, and 2) what are you willing to do to get it?

Am I suggesting you be aggressive in a negative way? Am I suggesting that you hurt or run over people?

No, not at all.

Again, the word means “pursuing one’s aims and interests forcefully,” and anyone can do that without “breaking the law” or hurting people.

  • Aggressive means being more demanding of yourself and others.
  • Aggressive means overcoming resistance.
  • Aggressive means refusing to take no for an answer.
  • Aggressive means you pick up the pace.
  • Aggressive means you never reach for an excuse.
  • Aggressive means you never quit.

If you’re not happy with the way your life is right now; and if you truly desire something better, then show it by forcefully pursuing your aims and interests. It’s really that simple.

Let’s not make any more excuses. It’s time to turn on yourself. You don’t need to protect yourself. Come out with your hands up and admit that you haven’t really gone after what say you want out of life, and then start taking steps today to change it!

Don’t feel bad about yourself. Just change directions!
