It might sound typical that a motivational speaker is going to talk about attitude, but it truly is all that matters when it comes to getting unstuck and dominating your life. Without a good attitude, you’re sunk. Sorry. Just the way it is.

What is attitude? It’s a “settled WAY of thinking or feeling about something or someone.” It’s taken from a French word “denoting the placing or posturing of a figure in art.” One of my favorite uses of the word “attitude” is in aviation. It’s “the orientation of an aircraft relative to the direction of travel.”

In other words, you could be heading in the right direction but flying the wrong WAY!

The importance of attitude came through this past week as I had a special guest on my Metal Excellence Podcast. My co-host, Pat McNamara, brought on Win Ford, a cancer survivor who gutted us with his story of dealing with cancer and the medical treatment. Long story short, he said that he could no longer control his body—which could kill him at any point—but the one thing he could control was his attitude. Bingo!

And to think that I have to regularly contend with people online who fight with me over attitude as if I’m asking too much. For whatever reason, they want to hang on to their misery, and anyone who suggests they change something represents a threat to their victimhood. It’s lame, but lots of people do this.

This week, we break down the importance of attitude and why it is the one thing you must control if you want other areas of your life to work. Attitude is everything! Watch Episode 1 now:
