When someone nears the end of their life, they think, “I wish I had more time. I wish I had another chance to do this over again. I would’ve done things differently.”

I don’t believe they mean that, because every day was their “second chance.” Every morning they woke up, they had another chance to change the direction of their lives. What they mean to say is, “Am I all out of second chances?”

What they’re saying is that they wished they lived in a world where you didn’t have to work or sacrifice for the results you wanted. They wanted a world where there were no consequences for doing nothing.

Making Sure Your Future Doesn’t Resemble Your Past

So, I’m going to ask you to listen closely, and then repeat after me: “TODAY is my second chance. TODAY I get to ‘do-over’ my life and make sure my future doesn’t resemble my past!”

Why do you need to repeat this? It’s because your problem is NOT your circumstances. Your problem is you, the way you think, and the thing dumb things you keep telling yourself.

You are the one who’s excusing yourself every day from going after what you claim you want. Remember all those things you said you would do if you just had the time or the money? Well, guess what? The time and the money AIN’T coming, so do you really mean what you say?

Rid Yourself of Bullshit Enablers

If having the time or the money is all that’s required for you to live your dreams, or do the things you want, but you refuse to go after them if you don’t have the time or money, then you don’t really want those things. Right?

Instead, you have the convenience to still claim to want a better life while having the excuse not to go after it. And believe me, ALL your little “enablers” will sympathize with you and love you anyway. I’m sure you’ve heard it before: “Be proud of who you are. Don’t change for anybody. I love you just like you are!”

Bullshit! Like the old saying goes: “I love you just like you are, but I love you too damn much to leave you that way!”

Things Won’t Improve Until You Do

Do I sound mean? Good, because that’s exactly what you need to be told. Enough of this babying of that side of you that’s hiding in mediocrity and living a half-assed life. Enough of the whining about how “life is against you” and how if you only had the right circumstances, you’d go after something better.

That day is today, because the circumstances won’t improve unless you force them to improve. People won’t help you until you begin showing the passion, the focus, and the relentless action to go after what you want. Why will they help you then? Because you’re living it, and they don’t want to be left behind!

Sure, they’ll question you at first. “What’s she doing? She can’t do that. What happened to my sweet little victim? I better stop her before she disappoints herself again.”

Once they see that you won’t quit, they’ll want to be around you. They’ll want some of what you’ve got!

“Cheers to a Second Chance!”

So, today is your second chance. Today you get to start making things you way want them. As corny as it sounds, today IS the first day of the rest of your life!

Let’s all raise our glasses and toast to the “second chance.” You woke up today, and you’re still alive, so that means life just handed you a permission slip to go kick some ass! That’s something to celebrate! Show life how thankful you are by turning yourself inside and out in order to create the future you want!
