You want to live with a fire in your spirit that can be seen in your eyes. You want that flame to be set on your tongue so you can deliver inspiration to those within your tribe. Your desire should be to burn through the dry brush of confusion in your own mind, and the minds of those committed to your care.

From this day forward, you must become the flame of rage!

I’m not talking about destructive emotions. The rage must be against that which limits you. It must be directed against that which holds someone back from releasing their own power and potential. The rage should be a righteous one. The rage should be that of a hero who’s finally awakened to their purpose.

Build a Wall but Leave a Door

Once you know who you are, what you’re supposed to do, and the influence you’re supposed to bring, then everything must change in your life. You now know what you stand for. You now know what you stand against. You now have an enemy, a purpose, and a reason for living.

Now, you must also guard it. You must protect what’s been entrusted to you by never allowing anyone to speak into your life that wants to taint, stain, or poison your purpose. You must set an invisible wall that keeps the enemies of your progress at a distance.

Use the Power of Synergy

Still, you cannot abide alone because a lot of your success will depend upon those you do allow into your life. It’s the mutual empowerment that will create the synergy that multiplies personal power.

Synergy is when the combination of two forces creates a greater effect than any one of those forces alone. This is what happens when you’re surrounded by people who are also committed to personal development.

They speak into your life, and you speak into theirs. It’s called “strike and ignite.” It’s seeing yourself like a lantern filled with fuel that gets ignited when someone else throws a match in it, or you throw a match into theirs.

Prove and Qualify Your Inner Circle

This is how you test and prove those who will be allowed in your inner circle. Anyone that routinely throws matches of motivation into your tank is someone you want close to you. Everyone else has to be kept at a distance. That doesn’t mean you cut everyone off. It just means you’ll only allow them so close.

I have lots of friends and associates, but there’s only a handful of people that I allow to speak into my life. I’m not rude to any of them, but I am guarded about how much I’ll share with someone that wants to drain my energy more than they want to ignite it. I want to be available to the energy-drainers, but I don’t want to be in “blood brotherhood” with them.

Do you have anyone in your life that is a “strike and ignite” kind of friend? If not, maybe it’s because you’re an energy-drainer. Become a person that ignites power in others and the right people will seek you out. Like attracts like. Metal up!

C.J. I’ve been wanting to know this for a while now… what is that intro song to your videos and podcasts. The shredding is so tasty what is it!??!

Hey Kaleb, sorry it’s taken me so long to respond. I’ve been out of town.

The riffs are the work of one of my subscribers, Kelly Kereliuk, and you can check out some of his videos here:

so true, I have a lot of people who inspire me but also many who drain me. im recovering from a pretty dark time and am nearly through it mentally but feel when im around certain people i get drained these people are important to me and i want to help them, how do i help them without putting my own mental state in jeopardy?

    • C. J. - The Metal Motivator

Thanks, Kozz. It sounds like you would be of better service to your friends in need if you restored your own strength and stability first. We can’t pull people out of a hole if we’re still in it ourselves. Lay low, get strong, and then you’ll be a source of strength to everyone you meet.

great article!… i’ve been finding recently that the more i do for others, the less appreciation i’ve been getting… seems as though everyone just wants some drama thrown into the mix. think its time to ‘go within’ and sort out what i want to keep in my life, and what needs some spring cleaning. thank you for making this available 🙂

    • My pleasure. Sounds like you’re making the right choice.

thanks. i think so, too (although it can be easier said than done) curious… do you have any insight as to why it seems to be this way?

    • Everything appears to be easier said than done because we’re not used to living in this new way. It’s actually not. It requires no more effort than what you’ve always done.

      adapt, improvise… to overcome… gotcha… thanks 🙂

It’s amazing to me how much the draining of just ONE person can seem to overpower the encouragement of five people! I’ve given myself permission to let that person go, bye bye! It feels good to not have to walk on egg shells or worry about what I’m going to say or how I’m going to say it. I say my inner circle is awesome!
      Thanks C.J.!

I have a lot of energy suckers on my life, not by choice! I keep my distance but they still try to suck me in, I don’t allow it any more. It used to bother me but not so much any more. It’s hard to separate the mind and heart, emotions are very powerful, but I have learned! Thankfully I have a very positive person by my side!

    • That’s excellent, Sue! I’m very glad to hear that!

    • That’s great! And you deserve it! I hope all is well.

Thank you! Doing great. Hope you are too! Keep up the great work that you do!
