Let’s face it. Half the reason for self-help is for people looking to change their behavior(s), but why do we still seem to struggle with the same areas years later? We say we don’t like the way we’re behaving, but we continue that behavior anyway. What are we missing?
I believe I have some answers for us, and I say, “us,” because I’m always included in anything I teach. I want to change certain behaviors also, but I want to be sure that once they change, they stay changed! I’m sure you do as well.
Our behavior is our conduct towards others and our circumstances, and most of our behaviors are simply learned behaviors, which means must of our responses are reactionary. In other words, they’re mindless.
This is why our behavior can be destructive. So if we’re going to change our behavior, we’ll need to first move out of mindless reactions into intentional living.
