Self-discipline and will power are two things we all wish we had more of, but why don’t we have more of them? Why aren’t self-discipline and will power just “natural” traits we’re born with like laziness and indulgence seem to be?

Well, consider the fact that you don’t have to do anything to grow weeds in your yard. You don’t need to plant seeds. You don’t need to fertilize. You don’t need to water them. Do absolutely nothing, and weeds will flood your lawn!

But healthy grass is a labor. You have to seed it during the right time of the year—usually a few months before Spring. Then, you have to fertilize. Then, you have to water regularly. It’s a chore, but weeds seem so “natural.” No effort whatsoever!

Self-Discipline & Will Power are Easier Than You Think

Laziness, procrastination, and indulging in unhealthy habits are like weeds. They require no effort. They grow naturally without you doing a thing. But self-discipline and will power? That’s like growing healthy grass. It takes effort, but maybe it’s not as difficult as we think.
