How to Train Your Mind to Slay Your Negativity

The single most important thing you can do right now to immediately change your life is to seize the control and direction of your thoughts. If you want to experience something radically different, then dominating your mind must become your priority—right now!

Controlling your emotions is determined by your thoughts. Becoming spiritually sensitive is determined by your thoughts. Living with an overwhelming sense of peace while others are in turmoil is determined by your thoughts. And your own self-confidence will only grow as you learn to control your mind.

Your Only Concern is Today!

If you’re ready to start dominating your mind, you first have to discard any concern about tomorrow. In other words, your only concern is to discipline your thoughts right now—and for the rest of the day. You’ll get to tomorrow when tomorrow comes. For now, we’ll pretend tomorrow doesn’t exist, because worrying about tomorrow only ruins today.

Second, you should break up each today into three parts: morning (when you first wake up), afternoon (middle of the day, lunch time), and evening (as you lie down to sleep).

The purpose of breaking up the day is to control the three important points of time when you can make sure to bridle your mind and bring it back into subjection. Remember, your mind is rebellious, and it will resist being subject to control.

Training Your Mind to Break Negative Habits

If you allow it, your mind will rush into worrying, anger, lust, or any number of destructive thought patterns. Therefore, training your mind is the only way to break these negative habits. Breaking up your day into three parts provides you with the framework to do that.

First thing in the morning, start subduing your thoughts. If you have to speak out loud to yourself to do that, then do so. It’ll be challenging at first, but you’ll notice within 10-15 minutes that you’ll make some progress. Keep it up as you’re getting ready for the day.

By lunch, your mind would’ve already gone back to its usual thought habits, so again, take some time at midday to discipline your mind. Just keep repeating the same mantras, sentences, or whatever you come up with that work for you.

Use Your Imagination

Most people find their most worrisome thoughts to happen as they’re trying to sleep, so the night time is an important time to seize control of your head. Use the power of imagination during this period, because visualization is one of the most powerful tools in your mental arsenal—and one of the most destructive!

The point is to keep returning to these disciplines in order to create new, productive thoughts habits that lead to other changes in your life. Again, if you can change your mind, you can change your life, so I recommend discarding all other focuses in order to center in on creating a new habit of a disciplined mind.
