The old saying goes, “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.” Well, unless you consider yourself a butt-sniffing hound, then you do have the power to change anything you want. This is what separates you from a dog: you have the power of will, which means you have the power to change.

It’s a strange thing when we love ourselves so much we come up with dozens of excuses to make up for where we are and what we’ve become, but we won’t use that love for ourselves to actually change our lives. We can get really creative when it comes to “covering” our faults, but we can’t seem to get creative in finding a way out of our mess. As they say, “We are our own worst enemy.”

Yet, change begins with a decision, and making the decision requires nothing short of pure guts. That’s because it takes a huge set of balls to turn against the one you love the most—yourself!

You’ll never make that decision so long as you continue to make excuses for the miserable state you’re in. What you need is to stop protecting yourself with lame excuses like, “I’m just Irish,” “I’ve always been this way,” or “It’s my old lady’s fault.” Don’t give yourself permission to suck.

Here’s the reality: reincarnation is a load of crap. You don’t get to live your life over again, so this leaves you with one shot at making your life the best. If you’re not experiencing the best, there’s only one SOB standing in your way. Ironically, that dude has your same name, and for some reason, you’ve taken his crap all your life. It’s time to turn on him!

It doesn’t matter how old you are. The sum total of your life is comprised of the millions of moment-by-moment decisions, thoughts, and reactions you’ve made throughout your life. In order to begin turning your life around, you only need to change your thoughts, decisions, and reactions. You might feel like that’s impossible—it isn’t. It’s all an illusion. Push through the lies!

My mission is to help equip people to maximize their resources for a purpose greater than themselves. That's what my own mentors and teachers have done for me, and I'm paying it forward. Life can be merciless, and the world can be a messed up place, so what's needed is a stronger people that can both endure and overcome in life. My motto is, "In whatever you do, don't suck! Metal up!"
